Our Mission

The Florida A&M University Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FAMU-SSHP) is an organization within the College of Pharmacy created to expose student pharmacists to health-system pharmacy. It is our mission to educate student pharmacists about career options, residencies, and fellowships in order to promote professional development through a variety of training exercises and seminars that enhance clinical skills. This organization provides educational resources and opportunities for networking with students pharmacists around the world through conferences and meetings at the state and national level.

Our Purpose

The purpose of FAMU-SSHP is to:

• Expose students to Health-System Pharmacy practice 
• Advance students’ clinical skills and abilities 
• Educate students about residency training and advanced credentialing 
• Encourage active learning and health-system pharmacy practice through evidence based medicine 
• Develop students’ professional and leadership abilities 
• Initiate and sustain service projects relevant to health-system pharmacy benefiting the surrounding community 
• Promote research in health-system pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences 
• Advocate for issues affecting our future health-system pharmacy practice by coordinating and cooperating with our local, state and national chapters 
• Recruit all eligible members and encourage membership in local, state, and national chapters upon graduating
